Old engine parts carry a lot of baggage. Grease, rust, oxidation, years of baked-on grime - it all builds up and makes it impossible to get a good coating or proper inspection underneath. That's where sandblasting comes in, and honestly, it's one of the most satisfying parts of the process.

Here's what we were working with - a crankshaft pulley and a flexplate that had seen better days. Both parts were carrying heavy buildup and surface corrosion. Before these pieces go back into service or get any kind of protective finish, they need to be completely clean down to bare metal. No shortcuts.

We run the parts through our blast cabinet and work them over carefully. The flexplate especially needs attention around all those teeth and cutouts - buildup likes to hide in tight spaces. We take the time to work every angle so nothing gets missed. That matters more than most people realize, because any contamination left behind will compromise whatever goes on top of it.

The difference when they come out is significant. Clean, uniform bare metal across the whole surface - ready for paint, coating, or straight back into the build. Parts that looked rough going in come out looking like they have some life left in them. That's the whole point.

Whether you're doing a full engine rebuild, restoring an older vehicle, or just trying to reuse a good core instead of buying new, sandblasting is a smart step. We work with all kinds of engine components and get them back to a condition where the next person in the process can actually do their job right.
